Conservative Texas High Faces Chlamydia Outbreak Despite State’s Abstinence Education

A small high school in West Texas has been hit with an outbreak of the STD chlamydia and is now trying to grapple with the problems of its sex education program.

Crane High School notified parents last week that nearly 10 percent of its 300 students were infected with chlamydia.

Texas state law mandates that schools teach abstinence over education and Crane is limited to an optional three day course in the fall semester that where teachers attempt to sex shame students into waiting until marriage.
