San Francisco cops in racist text scandal could get off without punishment

Fourteen San Francisco police officers threatened with termination or reprimand could receive no disciplinary measures despite plans by the police chief to see justice done.

Police department officials were unaware of the texts until January of this year and that may have put the officers past the one year deadline to enforce disciplinary measures.

Chief Greg Suhr has recommended eight officers be terminated and six be disciplined following discovery of racist and homophobic tweets.
